How can one person experience the full SDLC without working at a company ?

I want to experience the full SDLC or most of it on my own, until I can get a job at some company. I want all of it requirements gathering, UI design, Software Design, Building test cases, Actual testing and bug fixing and maybe even documentation.
Is there any way one could get experience in all these things, maybe on a small scale...like a mini SDLC ? I want to experience a little bit of each of these things also - programming, web programming/scripting/html, SQL.

Where and how can one get this experience ? Would contribution to an Open source project give me all that ? Would it be better if I work with some people or friends and make our own "mini" project ?
If it can be done all alone, should I try making my own web app, mobile app ?

Thanks in advance.
