It's hard to explain why something happens when we don't know what the something is. Have a look at our FAQ entry ItDoesntWorkIsUseless for a fuller explanation.

Dhaval, I wasn't complaining about the title of your post. I was complaining about your explanation of what "not working" meant -- because there wasn't any explanation. I linked to an FAQ entry which explains how to describe problems. Please read it before you post again.

You are alerting like that? That is bad for usability, alerts are BAD.

You need to show how you are calling the functions.

Post the error. Do it now. Do it before you do anything else. Now. Right now.

Also, go back to basics and run the entire HTML page through a validator.

I remember a case where some JavaScript code I was updating (really simple changes) "stopped working" in one browser (forget which specific browser) but appeared to be working as expected in three or so other browsers. (It was giving some generic or hard to track error such as '"null" is null or not an object.') Anyhow, unbeknownst to me at the time, somebody else had updated the HTML page in a fashion that left some improperly nested tags (think: <b><i></b></i>). The more lenient browsers were still processing the page, but the stricter browser, although rendering the page correctly, was throwing the seemingly unrelated JavaScript error.

Extremely good point, Mike. If the HTML is invalid, all bets are off. Always make sure that the HTML is valid.

Please, please, please, please do not modify your post after someone has replied. it makes the replies look stupid!

Please restore the original code in the first post, and post the new code as a reply. Let us know when you have done that.

What was wrong with your original code? Dis fixing any HTML errors change any behavior?

Next step: open up the debugger and see if there are any errors.
