I sent my friend a text (from a non Mac device.) She got it in iMessages on her iPhone. When she hit reply, it got routed to the iMessages that was open on my home Mac. And not a text back. Which was inconvenient since I don't have iMessages on my phone. We checked and she does have both my phone # and email in her contact list which is how this happened. Apple was being "smart" and sending it to iMessages. Obviously, I need to sign out of iMessages on the Mac when I'm not home so this doesn't happen again.
Are there any ways to force messages to go to text (or email) instead of iMessages? Logically, I would expect that if I send a text, I get a text back.
Since signing out of Messages or event turning off my home internet didn't work, I tried remove my apple id from messages and just leave gmail. The first test, the message "disappeared." (my friend might have gotten an error and not noticed). The second test, my friend got a message the reply couldn't be sent as an iMessage and rolled back. I thought the problem was resolved at this point.
This morning my friend got a message that she can't text or iMessage me. That's better than me not knowing a messages is sitting there, but less than ideal. If I text someone on a non-iPhone, it goes as a text and come back as a text.
I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
