about databases in general

Hi,
I am curious about databases like MySQL and how it works with other languages like, java and other web based languages if someone could explain to me the basic concept of how MySQL works, and the concept of how it works with other programming and web based languages i would be very grateful, Thanks.

ok thank you i haven't really had time to research it in depth but i will do that now
