Though it is still work in progress, some of the missing items which can be placed on check-list are...

1. Moose fly - the new moose is a png and not a gif, the fly has gone missing or may be it is there but it just sits and doesn't wander.

2. Edit/!Report/ThumbsUp buttons on individual posts.

3. "JavaRanch » Java Forums » This Site » Ranch Office"
(This is available on top, now missing)

4. After logging in, there's an option to hide moose.

These are the key things missing for me.

I also miss the link back to the Meaningless Drivel forum. You can click the "other" button, to get to the group with MD, but you can't get back to MD directly.

We are adding this in the next batch of updates to the beta view.

This will also be made available.

I would be happy if there are some buttons in the bottom as well: Reply, Quote, New Topic...
When I am reading posts until the end, I hate to scroll up to find the mentioned buttons.

Reply/New Topic is ok.... Quote(in existing setup), would be there on individual replies.

I like the new look. The high contrast and font size make it very easy for me to work with.

I do miss the bread crumbs because a common workflow for me is to browse a forum, read a thread, go back to the forum.

It would be nice if it went back to the same page in forum, but now I'm just getting needy and lazy.

I can open the threads in a new tab and that really does what I want. This does not bug me enough to go back to the old format. I can even live without the fly on the moose, if I really have to.

Joe

Yes, I miss them as well.

But perhaps breadcrumbs are too old?

I don't know if they are too old, but they are still relevant. The reason why they aren't there in the current beta version is more of an oversight. They will be available in the next batch of changes that we have lined up for the beta view.

No problem, I've written more than my share of code with oversights of features. And I've written lots of pure bugs as well.
