TOGAF sounds very very interesting. I've been formally in an architect role for 3 years now, and have been involved in defining the architecture for several years before that. All this while, I've been thinking that vendor independent standards on architecture would be very useful. It is very god to know that there are people putting methodology behind the art of architecting. I would most definetly start reading up on this.

However, I wanted to know how widely is TOGAF adopted in the industry. let's say I take the certification, will it add value to my resume?

I know of a couple places that are using it, but I don't think I'd call it widespread. It's also probably a localized question. I suspect the US Government has a higher use rate than average since TOGAF was based on something out of the Department of Defense.

Reading up on it sounds useful regardless of whether you take the certification. As far as finding a job based on it, I'm guessing a job board search for your area would be a good answer.

Based on Gartner's 2011 Global Enterprise Architecture Survey, 37% of organizations globally name homemade or blended as their primary framework.
With the exception of Togaf, which is the primary framework for 8% of organizations globally, no other branded framework garners more than 6% of organizations
As such Togaf would be a good investment of your time if your interested in studying an Enterprise Architecture framework and your organization doesn't already have a homemade or blended framework.
From a more regional perspective. Togaf is most popular in Brazil, China and India.
