I know this is meaningless drivel. But i think this is the appropriate forum . Suppose you are starting a project from blank slate[I mean like not maintaining or upgrading any existing S/W]. And you are proficient in both Java and C#. Which one would you prefer to do write an front end enterprise software?

Of the two, Java, hands down. Why limit yourself to Windows if you don't have to?

What do you mean by "front-end" software? I would not write any modern client software in either Java or C#, I'd use HTML, javascript, CSS, and maybe some JSP. How do you support where the industry is going, specifically smartphones and tablets running IOS or Android if you use C#?

@bear is correct, if you pick C#, you are forcing your self into a Windows world. Given how badly Windows 8, the Surface, and Surface Pro, are being accepted in the market, that seems to be a dangerous decision.

If a web client, I absolutely agree.

For some reason, I figured that the OP was talking about fat clients.
