Thanks Mala. So let the Java 7 cert process begins.
Given part 1 only covers half the JP exams, will the book also help with the upgrade exam?

I doubt it will be helpful, because it doesn't cover any of the advanced new language features. Just a few simple features like diamond syntax, boolean literals, strings in switches,... But that was actually a question you could have asked during the promo

Tsang,
In addition to the Language Enhancements, Upgrade to Java SE 7 Programmer exam (1Z0-805) covers Design Patterns, Database Applications with JDBC, Concurrency, Localization Java File I/O (NIO.2). These topics are part of Java SE 7 Programmer II exam (1Z0-804) and not Java SE 7 Programmer I exam (1Z0-803). So you can't use this book for the Upgrade to Java SE 7 Programmer exam.
If you have already earned the Java Programmer's certification (any version) then you need not write OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I.
I wish you Good Luck with your exam preparation.
With respect,
Mala

Too bad. I understand most of the upgrade stuff is in the part 2 exam but the book should help with some of the language enhancements.
