Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates' study guide is good enough to pass the exam. Read the whole book. Study hard on their self-tests.

Thank you so much...i placed the order for that book....
I heard of many online course modules for the exam.....Apart from this book, how far will it be useful?

In my situation, I took Java programming classes in school. Then, I read Kathy and Bert's book.

If you want some Java programming training classes, you can take some.
You can try to read the book first. If you feel you need more training in Java programming, you may consider to take some classes.
You can also find some good reference book and do some practice.

K&B is enough to clear the OCPJP with above 90%..........Besides that you will learn a lot of subject while reading that book...really marvelous work by K&B

I'm taking mine tomorrow! I also found this book a few months ago, which in my opinion doubles the value you get out of the study guide as mentioned above. It has four practice exams, with two 'mini-exams' at the beginning to gauge where you are. Also, after the first practice exam, it gives you a ton of coding exercises (i.e. "code a collection that will not accept duplicates").

Practice Exam Book

After all of the Kathy Sierra and Bates stuff, I would get the Oracle practice exams. While K & B toughens you up, it's also nice to have a confidence booster every once and a while, which the Oracle practice exam gives you. I averaged 50% on the K & B, and then got a 60% and 82% on the Oracle exams.

Hopefully tomorrow I can just get my 61%!

Good luck to you!

Thanks a lot for this info. Actually i am left with just 45 days to prepare, so trying to finish the book as fast as possible keeping some time to practice few mock tests.
All the best to you too
