applet start up failed

can some one help to correct my code? my applet was hang due to line 06...

Using a ServerSocket in an applet has a bad smell. What are you trying to achieve?

But regardless, you should not do such stuff in the init() method - move it into its own thread, so that the init() method can return quickly.

For starters, I would use a JavaWebStart app for this, not an applet.

Is the applet properly signed? Otherwise, networking is pretty much a non-starter; using a ServerSocket definitely is.

I'm curious: Is there a central server involved somehow? If not, how will the clients get to know about one another?
