Netbeans 7.2 cannot edit JSPs on Windows XP or Windows 7

I am working with Netbeans 7.2 and I cannot edit JSP files in Netbeans. The files are shown in the project tree but when I use Open to work with them in the editor I get a loading message on the screen and the file never opens. I can stop the loading by clicking the X on the tab for the editor. I have resorted to editing the JSPs in a text editor. The JSP issue happens at work on my Windows XP SP3 desktop and at home on my Windows 7 Pro. I have reinstalled the Netbeans at work a couple times and no change to the issue. Has anyone had this problem or found a resolution for this problem?

There is a thread on the problem in the Netbeans forums but it is unresolved. The thread is here Netbeans forum -- Suddenly can't edit .jsp files

The problem was posted at the Javaranch as well but the thread was short lived and unresolved NetBeans problem

The URL for the Netbeans forum I listed above has a dump of a session log if that helps.

I am just starting with servlets and can work with Eclipse if needed but right now I am using course materials for learning and all the projects are netbeans.

Alternately if the opinion is to uninstall Netbeans 7.2 and go back to an older version I will do that as well if someone can tell me what version would probably work.

Thank you,

Hi, update on my post. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Netbeans again (4 th time) on Windows 7 and I no longer have the JSP editing problem on Windows 7.

The other thing I didn't mention, and I don't know if it matters, on the Windows XP I am using Tomcat 6 because the production server is running Tomcat 6. On the Windows 7 machine I am running Tomcat 7 but any coding done on that machine is moved back to the Windows XP machine and built there before deploying.
