I just spent an hour carefully specifying a problem I was having with Swing. I wanted to make certain that I was providing all the details and anticipating all the obvious "Did you plug in the computer?" kinds of questions. In the process, I noticed something that I hadn't considered. That solved the problem.

I post this only because it powerfully demonstrates this programming rule:

If you can describe the problem completely and accurately, then the solution lies in the description.

And thanks for providing a forum for carrying out the process!
