'low coupling'

Consider this statement:

"The reference variable is declared for an interface type, not a class. The interface provides a small number of methods."

Why does the above statement describe a situation with low coupling?

Low coupling explains the case.

Thank you. I certainly hope the real exam does not contain questions that are subject to as much interpretation as this one!
