Can anyone who has taken both exams (like our guest author) weigh in on how the exams differ? I know the TOGAF isn't tied to Java and focuses more on the TOGAF process. Anything else interesting to share?
TOGAF is a framework for assessing the enterprise. Here we are not talking about an application but an enterprise which has several functions. There is a concept called ADM which has business, data, application and technology architecture along with other modules like vision and governance. Essentially in SCEA we are constrained by Java technology applied to data, application and technology architecture.
I'll stop here. I cannot compare SCEA with TOGAF. Unless you have a specific enterprise architecture assessment job, TOGAF is not useful. I do not know why some companies have mandated TOGAF for an architect post. Mostly SCEAs are required for a Java application architect job.
