I have some experiences with J2SE, mainly some desktop applications with Java Swing. Is this book a good one to learn Java EE? Or it's a book specific for the certification.

To be or not to be. It's a question.

This book is helpful for Java professionals. But it does not teach the concepts from scratch. Mainly useful if someone wants to crack the Architect exam.

Architect (SCEA 5, TOGAF 9, IBM OOAD, PMI certified)
[Book 1: Oracle Certified Master, Java EE Enterprise Architect Practice Guide]
[Book 2: Oracle Certified Associate Java SE-7 and SE-6: Exam IZO-803 and IZO-850 Practice Exams]

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
