I am using index.jsp in web.xml. When i am running my web app, i am getting http://localhost/app/index.jsp

I dont want the index.jsp to be printed on the url. I just want http://localhost/app and it should display the webapplication

Any ideas please.

Remove any mention of it from the deployment descriptor and let the default deployment descriptor do its thing (which finds index.jsp if not explicitly referenced)

Hi bear, i have done that and i am getting 404 error. If we pull up yahoo.com or gmail.com we wont fine yahoo.com/index.jsp and gmail.com/index.html. I want my app to run like localhost/app

thanks

Is index.jsp in the root of the context?
