The SCJD book by Andrew Monkhouse will perfectly satisfy your needs. This certification is JDK independent because it's about concepts, patterns, design,...

"The SCJD Exam with J2SE 5" written by Terry Camerlengo and Andrew Monkhouse, published by Apress.
This book covers the major design issues and tips.
The exam is independent from any JDK version. But you need to specify which version you use in a text file.
Use the latest JDK.

Also, read the paper written by Roberto Perillo and read his test class. You will find these materials from this forum.

Hi !

I also encourage you to read stories of peaple who passed the exam on the forum. It provides a lot of details about how you can deal with the various issues of the exam. However, start by reading the Monkhouse's book and Roberto's paper
