This week's book giveaway is in the Mac OS forum. We're giving away four copies of a choice of "Take Control of Upgrading to Yosemite" or "Take Control of Automating Your Mac" and have Joe Kissell on-line! See this thread for details.
I'm new to Spring and Hibernate. Was wondering why would I need or Can I just use Spring JDBC and not use Hibernate. Like if I were to use just one framework, can I solely rely on just Spring MVC, Spring JDBC and other components of Spring, instead of learning Struts and Hibernate.( I'm trying to learn frameworks to get back into job).
This depends on the location where you are looking for a Job. In India - you see a lot of job post for Spring + Hibernate.
If you learning one framework - i would suggest spring. It's in demand & even if you don't use it directly - it's concepts/components - AOP/Template Based/Interface Design/TDD make it a good framework to know that will help you understand/work with other programming concepts
