Hi,
I am working on a college mini project on social network similar to orkut using JSP and servlets.
I have created functions like create account and edit profile.

The database tables are as follows

userID | Email | Password

userID | Email | firstname | lastname | age | education | College

I want to create functions for Add Friend, View others profile, Send Message and Scrapbook.

Which additional tables should I create for these functions?

Also I want some detailed idea for coding for these functions.

Thanks.

Idea is that you should at first complete analysis phase of your project in which you will design models and database requirements and connection in between them.then start designing pages and follow good architecture practice of MVC design .
I would suggest HeadFirst JSP & Servlets book for referencing learning JSP & servlets

Perhaps I am getting the wrong impression but it sounds like you have jumped into coding and database design prematurely.

Have you worked out the Use Cases (wikipedia survey) for your users?

Lots of white board diagrams, conversations with potential users, and hand-waving should precede writing any code.
