Hi Matthew!
Thanks so much for an idea on bringing out a book, that helps build our IT career.
Basically from a non IT background, it is really difficult to get along in the IT industry, learning all the new technologies at a fast pace...
And i am really glad and look forward this book will definitely help immensely many IT employees like me

Thank you Krishnaveni,

The book started as a series of articles I wrote for Penton Media Group and their magazines. Also, a lot of forum postings and responses on a forum much like this - back in 2001. I used to compile my advice into a PDF and give it away for free. Then, after a year or so, I realized it was over 200 pages and I submitted it to a publisher. They accepted the project but could not start it for 14 months. So I self-published the book and sold it from my own website.

About 2 months into doing that, I sold a copy to a woman in San Francisco. 2 weeks later, she contacted me. She was an Executive Editor at Cisco Press (part of Pearson). 9 months later (like a baby), the Toolkit was born.

Mind you.. my book does not teach any specific technology - although I do give some hints into learning technology in general and adopting new skills.

Thanks again.

It was a really good decision of yours to start such a project. Giving Hints on learning technology and adopting new skills is much more sufficient for anyone to get started with the Technology itself!
So thanks again! And glad you would be in the forum answering queries
