separator in textArea

Guyz..m new to Swing..
I am trying to make chat application in java using netbeans....
i wanaa to add a separator in textArea after each message like Facebook...but i am not getting how to do it...

please..help me....

JTextArea does not support formatting. For formatted text, check out JTextPane
