There are so many javascript libraries, and more and more libraries being written every day. How to know which ones are good, the ones one should use in his projects

Library or framework?

As libraries go, jQuery has become almost ubiquitous. Even most frameworks either use, or work with, jQuery.

As far as frameworks go, it really depends on what you need from it. There are a lot to choose from. It remains to be seen if any of them will rise to the level of jQuery ubiquity.
