hi,
i am a java developer, around 3.5 years experience. I have had a relatively slow start to my career and that too from a very small company. So, after these many years, I think i am still not to the level as I would like myself to be in. So far my focus was to just learn whatever i could from the work i get. now, i guess, it is time for me to shift focus on growth. i wish to explore possibility in markets abroad, possibly south east asia, like Malaysia, China etc. I have not done any certification so far, even though i have been thinking of doing it for last 4-5 years.. it just never happened for me.. perhaps waiting for tomorrow delayed things for many years..

so, in current context, what i wanted to know is what all do i need to get a job in other countries? will certification be a bottleneck? what all factors will be crucial in these regards? and how can i know when i am ready to work there, in terms of technical skills?

Thanks

First step would be to ask yourself "What do I have, which would make me a valuable resource for prospective foreign employers"

That is what I don't have an answer for. I am still trying to analyze how i can increase my value as a professional.

I had posted this question few months back and based on the responses I had received Below is what can be tried:

* Get specialized skill which is bit rare. (But after this one is called by various companies in India but how to get calls for abroad jobs i dont know)

* Learning a foreign language may help.

* apply in websites like monster naukri etc and apply for jobs in foreign location.

These are some of things you can try however I myself am not sure how exactly to go about this.

Well, from the context, it looks to be describing the rarity. It is better to have a needed skill that isn't known by the majority of other candidates applying for the same role.
