does web container able to process https request?

HI Everyone!
I'm curious to know that , is servlet container able to handle https request also as like it does with http request. here have tried to search regarding my thread but i could'nt find any maching thread.
so hope you guys will help me to know exactly..

Yep. It's the exact same protocol, just layered on top of TLS.

Thanks! Jelle, to come up forward to answer my question.

here would like to modify my question, actually i'm writing a servlet extending by HttpServlet and have overridden its doGet() and when i'm sending a request to servlet through the bellow url:-


then the request is taken care by servlet container successfully and response shown on the browser but when i place a request in this formate-


then browser window showing ..secure connection failed error!
so here what i want to do that i want to make a https request to my servlet and want that my servlet should do the job nicely ,so here i'm unable to do .
as i read before in other thread they were talking about container can handle mostly http or https based request ,so is there any extra stuff is needed to do within the code.
your answer would be very appreciable...

No, you don't have to do anything differently in the servlet code to handle http and https requests. You do of course have to configure your server to handle https requests properly, though.

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply.
so can you please help me , how can configure?
I am using apache tomcat with netbeans so i have tried to fix it as you suggested through opening server property but there is only one option mentioned..
enable http monitor

Thank you very much Paul, I have fixed it up as you suggested i searched in the google and found it here......
configure your tomcat to enable SSL HTTP/1.1
hope if anybody will have the same problem it would be helpful.
