I've seen this over the years. The main forum page, with all the sections (http://www.coderanch.com/forums)
will showcase topics as most recent that are gone. My guess is that a moderator has deleted the topic, but this is only a guess.

Here is an example from about 4:30 PM EDT Sunday April 21

"The topic you are trying to see does not exist."

It would seem that the process of deleting the posting should update the section index, and that should in turn
update the main forum page. So once a posting is nuked, I should never see anything about it.

This seems to be a bug to me.

You're right, it's actually one of those long standing known issues that we haven't spent time on fixing yet. We'll hopefully get to it someday. However, thank you for reporting it.
