You cannot use JSF tags in a JSP file.
JSF uses an XML-based View Definition Language template which is compiled and used as
data by the FacesServlet.
JSPs are compiled by the appserver's JSP compiler to generate a
executable Java code as a
Servlet.
In JSF 1.x, the VDL could be used in a "JSP" file, but the file wasn't actually JSP. In JSF2, that feature was removed and "JSP" isn't supported at all for JSF Views.
The secret of how to be miserable is to constantly expect things are going to happen the way that they are "supposed" to happen.
You can have faith, which carries the understanding that you may be disappointed. Then there's being a willfully-blind idiot, which virtually guarantees it.
