Hi all,

Can you start working with Hadoop in a simple way?

Or do you need a whole infrastructure and experience beforehand?

Thank you,

Gian

Hi Gian,
You can start playing around with Hadoop using just a single Linux box. You can run Hadoop in a single machine using local mode or using pseudo-distributed mode to test/debug your MapReduce programs. Using a cloud offering like Amazon EMR is another way to get going.

thanks,
Thilina

Also you can download virtual machines with the software pre-installed and configured. For example, from Cloudera:

You can find the MapR Test Drive VM here http://www.mapr.com/doc/display/MapR/Quick+Start+-+Test+Drive+MapR+on+a+Virtual+Machine
