Initiating schema variables

Hello all,

I am having trouble writing a program that converts a binary file using a schema file. I am using various schema files and binary files, and I want to write a program that will convert them appropriately - but I'm not sure how to have Java determine what variables are in the schema file. For example, if I am given a random file of schema in the format {char, char, int, double, int}, how could i have java read that file and create the appropriate spaces for those variables? This question may seem ambiguous, so I will be happy to provide more details...
