Hi Guys,

I have decided to bite the bullet and complete the third part of my OCJMD training - the classroom led training.

I think I have narrowed the choice down to:

Java Perfromance Tuning and Optimization

and

Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML

In the future I believe I will take the architecture certification. With that in mind. I would like to hear your views on which course you think has the most relevant content. Have you done one of these courses? If so, what did you think of it? Any thoughts or opinions you feel relevant are welcome

Thanks

G

If you plan to take architect certification I would definitely opt for a course which is on both lists with approved courses.

In the Sun(ny) days I followed the Java Performance Tuning and Optimization. It was a part of the Java 5 Certification Track (which my employer at that time paid for). The most interesting parts of this track were (obviously) the Java 5 new features course & the certification voucher. I don't know if that course can be compared with this one (because I passed scjp 5 almost 7 years ago). Based on the topics and my (volatile) memory, I believe similar topics were covered. Now 6 years later I can say that I never needed to apply topics covered in this course in my daily job. So for me it had very little added value and I wonder if it's useful for the average (java) developer.

Kind regards,
Roel
