How to compare two excel sheets data using java code?

Can anyone please guide me on this ?
Currently i am using a macro to do this job but it will take too much of time if there is large number of data in both the sheets.
So i hope java can do better job here.

what exactly do you mean by "compare"? by some measures, simply calling "diff" might do it, or looking at the date/time stamp of the files.
