What is CERTivity KeyStores Manager?
CERTivity® KeyStores Manager, is a powerful pure
Java multi-platform visual KeyStores manager. This standalone GUI desktop application provides a natural experience for managing and using KeyStores, Certificates, Key Pairs (Private Key, Certificates Chain), Secret Keys in various formats. CERTivity can perform many activities related to KeyStore management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) domain; common actions are generating KeyPairs, exporting KeyPairs, Private/Public Keys and Certificates, importing SSL certificates from servers, extending validity period for self-signed certificates,
testing given certificates on custom protocols, obtain revocation status, create and verify digital signatures on PDF, XML, JAR or CSR files, digitally signing and verifying signatures on Android Application Package (APK) files, discovering and opening Java(s) CA KeyStores(s), certificate Extensions management. It also facilitates viewing details of Certificate Signing Request files and Certificate Revocation Lists from local files or from remote locations (using various protocols like HTTP, HTTPS, FTP or even LDAP), and it includes customizable trust path validation when importing Certificates or CA Replies.
New features of the latest release:
The version 1.2 of CERTivity KeyStores Manager brings very interesting features and improvements, as well as bug fixes meant to improve usability, simplify the work of the user and other usability features for working with cryptographic keys and PKI domain.
Shortly, in CERTivity 1.2 were included the following new features:
Simplifying the operation for signing a certificate and act as a test or in-house CA, with two clicks: to do so CERTivity 1.2 has decreased the number of steps taken when signing a certificate and acting as a test or in-house CA, by adding in the contextual menu available for Key Pairs two new options called "Select CA Issuer" and "Sign Certificate by <...>". This new feature was also made available for the "Generate Key Pair" action.
Trust validation and customization via new options in the Options panel and Trust Status available in the screens: to achieve this, a new option called "Trust Path Options" was added in the "Tools/Options" dialog, to allow dynamic TrustStore management at runtime. This new option contains two tabs called "TrustStores Selection" and "Trust Validation Options", these tabs containing in turn new options for setting the TrustStores and validation options. Using the previously mentioned settings, Trust Path validation is performed for the "Import Certificate" and "Import Ca Reply" actions. To emphasize the trust status, the KeyStores view now contains an additional column to display if the certificates are trusted or not. This column applies only to Certificate Entries, not to Key Pair entries.
Certificate chains actions: simply press delete to remove a certificate from a chain, or paste to add a certificate from clipboard to a chain of a Key Pair in a KeyStore;
New signature algorithms for Key Pair/CSR generation, for CSR signing, new Key Algorithms for Secret Key generation and more Fingerprints available in the Certificates Details sections;
Viewing CRL and CSR files, and support for file type inspection;
Quick Search triggered by the keyboard input in the KeyStore panel allowing selective column search;
Drag and drop for Certificates, CRLs, CSRs and KeyStores.
Apart from the new features which have been added, CERTivity 1.2 has fixed the issues found in the previous version, such as focus lost on File Chooser for unlocked Key Pairs/Private Keys on Linux. Also some corrections and uniformity were performed for some labels contained in the GUI.
