Changes from Java 1.5 to current Java 7 version

Hi,
I just started reading Head First Java and these forums were suggested in the book. I am a Computer Science Major and most of my courses will use Java to teach programming. My plan is to get started early before I begin my actual programming classes.

I just wanted to ask, are there major changes in the syntax of the language since 1.5, or are most of the changes an upgrade to the core of the Java environment?

Thanks in advance,
Jason

Jason,
Welcome to CodeRanch!

There weren't any (memorable) syntax changes in Java 6. I don't think there were any at all, but if there were - not significant ones. Java 7 introduced a number of syntax changes. This blog post is a good summary.
