General question on Distributed: sync state of instances

Hello Partners.
Let's assume I have one application server (AS), when load on it goes up I create new instance of it and balance the load.
But on 1'st instance I have a class with collection of elements, and when I run second server it's collection is empty.
How mechanism of server-state synchronization is implemented on distributed systems? How would I send these elements from 1'st server to 2'nd?

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
