There seems to be very little coverage of MDB's in Seam in Action. There is currently a question on the Seam forum regarding MDB's.

I guess it's b/c not too many use cases warrant the use of asynchronous messaging...

You seem to be pointing out the few topics I wasn't able to fit in. I would argue that there are plenty of cases when asynchronous messaging is useful. It's just a very advanced and large topic that would need at least a chapter and would require much of the book as a prerequisite. Truthfully, it's the one topic I wish could have covered personally, but again, probably would have been lost on a lot of people.

so how many pages in the paperback version?

The revised PDF I have is 679.

Once you get up to the length of the Bauer and King book, it's too long and too heavy.

Please make sure the index is long and useful!!!

The Yuan book (1st edition), suffered in this regard as a reference manual.
