Externalizing message resources

A properties file is present in a network shared folder. I am trying to access this external message resource in my application using struts config message resources. I tried having the shared folder path on the classpath in build.xml. That didnt work. Is there any way to force bean:message to read messages from an external message resource?

Could anybody help on this. Can you please help explain how to override message resource factory to solve this issue
