Invalid Column Name

Hi,

Am new to JSP, but basically have copied an existing JSP and added by own SQL query and changed columns names etc to match.

However my query extracts the information contained within a few xml nodes and works fine in oracle, however when in the JSP I get an invalid column name.

The JSP is fine when I amend the query within it and remove the the XML parts of it.

Is it possible to have SQL selects such as the below

" substr(M.xml, instr(M.XML, '<Description enabled="1">') + 25, instr(M.xml, '</Description>') - (instr(M.XML, '<Description enabled="1">') + 25)) DEPTNAME, "

Is the below get string incorrect?

<TD align="right"> <%=rs.getString("DEPTNAME")%></TD>

Hope that makes sense, as I said am a rank amatuer when it comes to JSP.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
