FilterChain problem? Supporting NT Auth and Username/Password Auth

I want to try to authenticate through NT and if it fails, then authenticate through the login screen.

But, when I try to let the user type in a username/password that is NOT in the NT domain, but is an acceptable login for my system, I cannot seem to bypass the Ntlm processing and run the authentication through the authenticationProcessingFilter, which works when the NT filter is removed from the chain.

My current chain is this...

Could someone please advise me as to :

a. if this is possible
b. what my chain SHOULD look like?
