I was working as senior software engineer in an indian MNC. After this I joined another indian MNC.Here the designation was Band2.I have been working here for 2 years. Now they have new job mapping and all people in my band have been given designation Software Engineer. So in my previous company my designation was senior software engineer and now it is software engineer. What should I do?
When you joined the new company, what designation did the offer letter mention?
If it was Senior Software Engineer, then I can understand your pain point. Did you try talking to your manager? If he is good, he might empathize and offer some solution. There might be a possibility of an exception in your case.
Any good company, will give more credence to your roles and responsibilities rather than your designation. However, this is not almost always true in India, where pen pushers look at bits of paper, than your actual capabilities.
