Codebase orientation: How to find a way to call method of a service.

I have published an EAR on a local application server (WebLogic) and there is a class with a method that I need to trigger for testing purposes. I know this is an open-ended question, but how do I do this? I have done a search of all places where my method is called but I know that it is not called by simply running the service. It requires some specific event that I can't quite figure out.

I'm interested in how to approach such a problem rather than have a colleague tell me what to do. How would you approach this problem without documentation?

Many thanks,
Ten
