SOA: canonical data model howto

Hello Partners!
I want to get involved in SOA, and I was suggested to start from building Canonical Data Model.
Where should I start? Is this just a bunch of XSDs with all data types (that will be used in future WSDLs) defined?
I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link:
