hello!! i am planning to take up ocjp se 6 by november.I am new to java.have a good knowledge in c and c++.it would be of great help if anyone could suggest any books and links to start with java.thank you!!

Yes, "Head First Java" is a good starting point. It's not a certification book, but you need to learn Java before reading a certification book. Then K&B will focus you on what you need to know for the certification.

It sounds like you have a good plan!
