Hi Guys,

I recently attended an interview with IBM(Web Application Developer JAVA/JSP/SERVLET/J2EE) . they asked me a question.
How do you deploy your development code( assume that you have all the files )
What would you guys have answered?

I gave them a vague answer and they were not impressed.. Has it got a specific answer?!!!

The question can't be answered without context: what kind of code - web app, EJB, desktop app, applet, JavaWebStart, something else?

It was for a web application.. like you have got your .jsp. .class and everything and all other files in the correct directories under your application root directory (say under a container Tomcat).
He was stressing the point of how do you deploy them to production...
what are the sequential steps?

Did your answer include the term "war file"?

Can you give me a detail explanation of what you would have said.
Assuming all the .java,.jsp and everything is lying in the application directory with correct format and location.

It's not for me to tell you what to say in an interview. Now that you know which direction to go, do some research so you'll understand how to deploy a web app.
