--launcher.library
plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.win32.win32.x86_1.1.100.v20110502
-product
org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
512M
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
512m
--launcher.defaultAction
openFile
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5

Do try by going to Run -> run as configuration-> and set argument in that.

6GB? What is in that folder that the folder is so big? Is it a lot of smaller files or are there some huge files? Knowing what's in that directory and what you are doing with it will help.

I'm not sure which files Eclipse will attempt to load, but if it tries to load at 6GB your need a 64-bit JDK, and run a 64-bit Eclipse (you'll also need a 64-bit OS). You will need either a lot of RAM or a large page file, and then set the heap to a very large value. I recall once needing to load a 1.5GB file into a Java app and I needed a 6GB (4*1.5) heap. Not sure if you'll need a 24GB heap or if a smaller one will do.
