Java I/O Fundamentals

Use streams to read from and write to files by using classes in the java.io package (including BufferedReader, BufferedWriter, File, FileReader, FileWriter, DataReader, ObjectOutputStream, ObjectInputStream, and PrintWriter)

Really?

Hi, Paul, I thing they are talking about the DataStreamInput and the DataStreamOutput classes here.. they are in their on line tutorial
In the I/O essential section they say:

The I/O Streams lesson and, in particular...

So it means the entire lesson and DataStreams are in there.

There is no mention of DataReader, I have not even found it in the java doc.

However you should be more knowledgeable than me about the argument so probably there is such a DataReader..

That's what I meant, Nick. There is no DataReader class Oracle should be more careful about these things.

Oracle has updated this exam topic and replaced the term 'DataReader' with 'DataInputStream' and 'DataOutputStream'. Nick, you were correct in your assumption! :-)

Here's the updated exam topic:

"Use streams to read from and write to files by using classes in the java.io package including BufferedReader, BufferedWriter, File, FileReader, FileWriter, DataInputStream, DataOutputStream, ObjectOutputStream, ObjectInputStream, and PrintWriter."

Complete list of exam topics is hosted at Oracle's website.

With respect,
Mala
