Hello,

I am very new to java swing and am trying to understand the components.

1. It looks like a Combo-box.
2. Text field is not editable
3. Initially looks like the one in attached image 1a
4. One pointing the mouse on the down arrow on the component, it looks like 1b
5. On clicking the down arrow, open up a new frame

Need your help to understand what is this object and how to create it.

It might be new component created by implementing JComboBox.

If we click on the arrow in JComboBox, a Popup Menu will show. Inside the popup menu there is a JList. You have to change that JList to a JPanel to make a such component.
