Yes - but DES is deprecated in favour of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) so unless you are trying to decrypt or encrypt to match a legacy system that uses DES you should change to using AES. Both DES and AES are available in the Java Cryptographic Extension (JCE) which, since about JDK1.5, has been available as part of the JDK/JRE .
Note - there is more to encryption than just the base algorithm and there are many pitfalls. A good starting point for studying Java cryptography is "Beginning Cryptography with Java" written by David Hook and published by Wrox. There are also many online tutorials which Google will find.
