Java version history

J2SE 1.2 (December 8, 1998)
Collections framework

Why do you need this? Out of curiosity?

Does some company seriously think that if you know the answer to that question, you are a good candidate for a Java programming job?

I doubt that I'd want to work there, if this is how they decide on the suitability of programmers.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder if we shouldn't start a 'Stupidest Interview Question' forum.

Technically, the Collections Framework was available before JDK 1.2, but it wasn't part of the JDK - it was a separate download.

Of course, I agree with everyone that this is a stupid question for an interview.

Was it not so that it came with 1.2 but was also retrofitted as a separate package for 1.1?

Actually, I think I was thinking of the way they handled JFC/Swing, which was a separate release before JDK 1.2. But you're right, Collections for JDK 1.1 was more of a retrofit, released soon after JDK 1.2 had come out. I retract my previous statement.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
