I believe it is a way of accesing the service operation (WSDL) from Service catalogue. (UDDI registry?)

I believe it is a way of caching documents (e.g. XSD, WSDL, DTD) locally rathering than looking them up over a network.

Using XML Catalogs with JAXP

I believe UDDI is not on the version 6 of this exam although this is good to learn about it.

Agree. This seems like a topic from MZ' notes. But the section is "blah blah blah".
I guess this may not be the topic for the exam anymore.
It may be a topic for version 5.

Can anyone verify this ?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
