I have programmed stand-alone applications for Android. Now I need to access an Web Service from within the application.

Can someone help?

What kind of WS is this? What do you know about its API? Most WS used by mobile devices are implemented using REST - for those you can use the built in HttpClient library.

It is a JAX-WS web service deployed on glassfish 4 and we have NOT implemented it as a stateless session bean.

It doesn't matter how it is implemented on the server. You will need a SOAP library that's Android compatible, like kSOAP2.

Here, couple of links that might still be relevant and helpful :
  • IBM Devworks article on JAX-WS consumption on Android
  • Libraries and ways to access SOAP based WS in Android

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
