Suggestion for following the post

Hie everyone,

I have suggestion which is as follows:

I usually read some java and servlet posts and there replies from different different people (mostly from the moderators).
If there would be some functionality like "follow post" which would always notify me if someone replies on that post which i followed (regardless of my reply on that post) would be great. Because I don't want to miss some really important and interesting topics.

I don't know if at all this is a good suggestion but please look forward to it.

Is the "Watch Topic" functionality the same thing? I am sorry I just saw that.

Thankyou.

We probably have that functionality already. At the bottom of every topic page is the button; if you press it, you should get a notification when someone replies to that particular thread. And in your profile (the Preferences section), you can choose to get a notification for every new post added to the topic, even if you haven't read the previous ones:
Send notification for all new messages:
Keep sending notifications even if the other messages weren't read yet.

Is this what you'd want?

Yes this is exactly what I was talking about.
Sorry I didn't know about all the features of this website although I am registered since quite a long time.

thankyou

No need to be sorry, our forum is pretty rich in functionalities (and is gaining new ones every month or so,) so it's not that surprising not to know one or two of them.

Feel free to ask, we're glad to answer. And there are even a few things that were implemented after one of the ranchers asked for them!

Thanks Martin..

I came to know about:

Send notification for all new messages
Keep sending notifications even if the other messages weren't read yet.

But right now I am only much interested in forums like beginnig Java, Java in general, servlets, jsp and certification forums.
So is there some functionality that I will only get notified when a new questions are posted on those forums only?

The Watch functionality Martin mentioned also works for specific forums - look for the button on the forum home page.
